Friend, McLean,

We have something to say to you, having heard of Arama Karaka's proposal to give his place to you. Listen, we object to that. There have been three committee sittings of Ngati Toa and Ngati Awa at Waikanae, and this is to tell you not to agree to Arama Karaka's proposal, in case we all end up fighting again. There is no more to say to you.
