To McLean

Sir,

Greetings. I have great respect for you. Here we are in trouble with the Pakeha, Edward. He has left the place we arranged for him, yes, but it is all right because he himself abandoned it. My land must remain with us. [He?] is going to Auckland [?]. I said to him, 'Let Ma arrange a place for you.' But he said, 'No, don't pay for a place for me.' Sir, don't agree to a place for this Pakeha.
