A diary with printed entries for 1859. Although erratically kept there are daily entries for a visit to Marlborough in April, and descriptions of negotiations there, and a long sojourn in Hawkes Bay from May with details of his farming activities and land negotiations, travel through Waipukurau, Porangahau and Wairarapa for further land negotiations, and an end-of-year visit to Christchurch.

50 pages, related to d Te Hapuku, Hawke's Bay Region, Wairarapa, Ngati Toa, Ngati Raukawa and Ngati Kahungunu.
