To McLean

Greetings. I have great affection for you. Friend, this is my message to you. Listen, if you write me a letter, give it to Te Hapuku and he will arrange for someone to carry it to Manawatu to get to me. I don't know what others would do, but Te Hapuku will arrange to get it to me, so don't give it to a stranger to bring up, don't do that [thinking] that it will get to me soonest. Te Hapuku will arrange for it to get to me at once. That ends my affectionate [greeting] to you.

From me, from your good friend,
Ropata Te Waeriki
