The folder contains 9 letters written by Catherine Isabella McLean, from Maraekakaho and Glenorchy, Hawke's Bay, 1861-1875.Includes one letter written by Annabella McLean from Edinburgh in Nov 1862

My dear brother

In reading A B's letter to you I find that she makes no mention of poor Archy. He left Liverpool for Melbourne on the 15th of last month and if he thinks that he can do better there than here

it is his intention to remain and send for his wife. A.B. and myself to join him. I feel sure that you will approve of what Anna has done. I do hope that Alexander is getting on well with his farm. How unkind never to write to us.

I hope that your little boy is quite well & that he may be spared to be a comfort to you. With my love to Alexer when you see him, yourself and the "wee man".
