Sir,

I have been requested by the Honorable the Native Minister to inform you in reply to your letter of 31st December last, that upon consultation with Mr. Mantell and after carefully perusing all the papers relative to the Wairarapa 5 per Cents a Minute has been prepared by Mr. Bell for Mr. Mantell's guidance, a copy of which I have the honor to enclose, and that for the present at least, there will be no necessity to send Mr. Cooper to Wairarapa -
