Susan's letters are addressed from Dalmuir Hill (her parent's home) and Wellington Terrace. Many letters are undated and were written prior to their marriage in Aug 1851. Includes correspondence between Susan McLean and her mother Susan Strang (2 letters, undated); one letter from Helen Anne Wilson to Mrs McLean, 30 August 1852

I send you Madam all the note paper small size that I have got, together with a box of steel pens for your own particular use. They were made a present to me by Mr Stevenson and I never use them so you need not hesitate in accepting them as they appear better than those you usually get here.
Do you want any leads as I have also 12 gross of them. What an awful day. I hope Thursday
