NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. To:- Donald McLean
Wellington. August 25th. 1868



August 24th. Action taken by me. Special messenger Wairoa directed Deighton send native scouts to scene Whitmore's fight to report enemy's movements, bury our dead. Reply with scouts information be here next Saturday. If enemy gone Richardson marches Constabulary to Napier.

Sullivan, half caste just in from Taupo side, all right there and no news. Report just in from Wairea that Constabulary marching here, if so not to be stopped.
