My dear McLean,

Mr. Trollope will be at Tauranga about Septr. 15, and Gilbert Mair can meet him there with Govt. horses etc. - and take him through the Hot Lakes to Taupo, and thence to Cambridge.

William Mair could show him the Upper Waikato, whence he can return by coach to Auckland. I think that it wd. be well for the Govt. to defray horses, canoes, and other expenses from Tauranga.

Very truly yours,
G. F. Bowen
The Honble. D. McLean, C. M. G.
