In respect to the murderers of Todd, the Ngapuhi chiefs Tamati Waka, Moetara, Mohi Tawhai, Wi Tana Papahia, Rawiri Te Karaihe, Hori Karaka, Aperahama Taonui, Wi Hau, Maihi Kauiti, Heremaia Te Ara, Kou, Hare Hongi, and some others to be chosen by Waka Nene, might come up in the Bay of Islands Steamer to the Thames, they then could go up to see Te Hira and their word might induce the Hiras party to allow the mail to pass over the country between Ohinemuri and Tauranga, if this could not be done on their way up they could take Te Hira with them to Tamati Ngapora, where Te Ngakau could be seen and talked with in respect to the mailm in thus going by way of the Thames two objects might be gained.
