The letters from Donald are written from Porirua Barracks, Otaki, Rangitikei, Waikanae, Wanganui and Taranaki. Susan's letters are addressed from Dalmuir Hill (her parent's home) and Wellington Terrace. Many letters are undated and were written prior to their marriage in Aug 1851. Includes correspondence between Susan McLean and her mother Susan Strang (2 letters, undated); one letter from Helen Anne Wilson to Mrs McLean, 30 August 1852

I am afraid you will fancy I was very unkind not to have answered your note sent with the books this morning. I fully intended to have done so before I left and partly expected to have seen you when shopping with

Miss Kelly at Robinson's, however my plans are now slightly altered as I do not intend to leave till I hear whether Sir George Grey arrives by the ship rounding the Heads in such case I may delay here two days longer.

Will I send the "Poncho" to get altered. It only wants rounding in the corners and hemmed round with binding of some kind or would you say bound with something.
