It is submitted for the Major-General's consideration that Capt. Watt of the volunteers should be temporarily attached to the Native Department, retaining his present position as Captain of Volunteers.

The Waitara natives, excepting five or six that would be employed as guides might be brought up to occupy a position near the town.
