Tuesday
My dear Maclean

It appears to me that Searancke had better have instructions to engage temporary assistance if required, for the present. His negociations are not proceeding very briskly and it will be time enough to add another hand to the Staff.

Mr. Stewart seems young and not over bright.

Yours truly
C. W. Richmond

P.S. If you will recommend any instructions shall go to the Sub-Treasury.
