NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. To:- Donald McLean
Wellington 25th. August 1868.



August 24th. Last news of enemy fires seen August 19th. Puke Tapu 4 miles from scene engagement. Opinion divided on enemy's movements. Fraser thinks enemy building pah Puke Tapu. Food there potatoes. Hamlin thinks enemy cutting road for horses to Maunga Powhata. No arrangement for ascertaining enemy's movements.
