English (ATL)

Since Wiremu Kingi and his right hand man voluntarily came forward about the news from the North I suggested to them the propriety of writing to the Governor, in place of an empty communication with me on an important though happily visionary rumour. If I have done wrong in sending copies for your information thinking it likely His Excellency would speak to you on the subject, why, I must throw myself on your mercy and promise better for the future.

I have no time to answer your letter of 30 June by this oppy. but will do so shortly.
