COPY. (from rough copy.)
My dear Sir William,

I have only just received your kind letter of the 11th. and I feel much gratified with its contents.

I shall be happy, any day that suits, to meet you in town, or at your own place, if more Convenient.

I sincerely trust that it may not be long before a lasting peace is concluded with the natives. I was very much pleased with the demeanour of the Waikato and Ngatimaniapoto Chiefs.

I remain My dear Sir William
Yours very truly (Sighed)
Donald McLean.
