20th Decr. 1873

My dear Mr. McLean,

How glad I am to say I have ridden 10 miles from Kaipara just now to catch the steamer to say that I am in the land of the living. I was annoyed with F - and Mackay for ordering me off to the Thames, almost before I landed on the wharf. I absolutely refused to go. I am now prepared to go to Hamilton but would rather you sent me a message to go than anything else. Some jaw about land in Kaipara, all smoke. Mrs. Farr is in extaciio with your presence.

I cannot write more yours ever,
J. Rogan.
