Petre, Wanganui

June 5th, 1846.

Sir,

May I request the favor of your presenting the enclosed Memorial at your earliest convenience to His Excellency the Governor. The number of signatures attached to it may appear very few; but under existing circumstances it is necessary, that the subject of the Memorial should not at this moment be made too public, though we do not anticipate a single dissentient voice amongst the rest of our fellow settlers.

I have the honor to remain, Sir, Your Most Obedt. Servt., (Signed)
John Nixon J.P.
To J. Jermyn Symonds Esqr.
