Memo, respecting Tetao's Land at Pataua - is derived from his ancestors. He himself lived upon it and cultivated there when a youngster. Takahanga who sold the land was a tangata haere.

The true proprietors of the land are the Warepainga to whom his mother belonged. His father belonged to the Nga te Rahiri.

His mother's father was Raranga. Her name was Maro. Her mother was the daughter of Tahanumia. The Principal chief of the Tribe - an Atua who issued from the Anu pit and not by the ordinary course of generation.

Mr. D. Hay of Wangarei is aware of Tetao's right. It was he who sold McMair his land at the head of the river.
