Sir,

Mr. Wilson left Town this morning for Te Aute - may be back to-morrow but most likely not until Tuesday evg. Have I your Honors instructions to await his return before doing anything as regards the Tollgate -

Mr. Sturms son who has been up at Tarawera and all over that country reports the natives to say that Nikora never was at

Ngatapa - since Ruakituri engagement Nikora has been unwell stopping at Waikaremoana and attended on by his wife - It was another Nikora that was killed -

The education rate meeting at Waipaua was to come off on Monday last but postponed until last night - 1/3 will pay without a grumble - 1/3 object for want of fund and 1/3 object because they have to pay £2 or £3 each having so many rabbit houses - Mr. Carlyon was to preside at meeting and intended to try and make a little political capital out of it - most likely assisted by Mr. Russell -
