Good Friday, 8 P.M.

Dear McLean,

''Simeon'' came and told me this afternoon that Hapurona had asked Rangitake when he intended writing to the Governor - and that the latter had answered ''whenever the Governor wrote to him first''. On this, the former has deemed it expedient to have a bit of talk ''on his own hook'' - I have certified this officially through the Military Authorities - so you need not mention this private particular of information.

I have, etc.
A. Wyatt.
