New Plymouth

5th. Sep. 1860.

My dear Mr. McLean,

I think it would be advisable to clear out the Maories from the Tataramaika block - if you would be good enough to give me all the information in your power as to the numbers and the description of Pahs they have built - if this miment seems desirable - we should not lose time - can I see you during Forum.

All the news from Wellington seems pacific - and the report of Mr. Mackay of an immediate attack a mere rumour

Faithfully yours,
G. T. Pratt.
