NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. To:- Donald McLean
Wellington. September 11th. 1868

There is very general dissatisfaction expressed here by all classes at the contemplated removal of our small disciplined force. It has the appearance of tempting the enemy at Wairoa to make a raid into this Province and looks as if the Government were in a fix at Patea.

(Signed)
Joseph Rhodes.
