Extract from letter to McLean from Daniel Pollen. Auckland,
July 7th. 1870.

My dear McLean,

Affairs at Raglan are quiet again, Captain Higgin tells me that Tawhia was on the beach at Kawhia when the plunder from their store was landed and that the whole has been distributed.

I have had several ''talks'' with Fenton and we have agreed that he should postpone the sittings of the Land Court at Ohinemuri fixed for the 12th. sine die. The declared reason being the unpropitious weather and the want of accomodation for the court and its officers.

It is possible that no harm might have come out of old Te Hira's banner, but on the other hand a disturbance might have arisen and it is better to be on the safe side. The delay will put Te Hira in the wrong with the opposition. ...
