Memo. for the Honorable the Native Minister.

Reverting to a conversation I had with you this morning in reference to my application to retire from the Civil Service in accordance with a minute of Cabinet on my first letter -- I confess I feel somewhat disappointed that the promise then made is not given effect to at once as should it so happen that a change in the Government takes place I might be put in an unfavorable position.

I would therefore respectfully suggest for your favorable consideration that the time of my retirement be definitely fixed now -- and lest the Government be caused any inconvenience by my leaving while the General Assembly is in Session I submit this His Excellency the Governor be advised to sign the order for my pension at once fixing the date of retirement for 1st. of December 1866.

Hy. T. Clarke.
