EXTRACT.

"I wish you could do anything to get an answer sent to my letter about Bayley and E Rangi's Reserve.

I should like to put the Ordinance in force against him, just to give him a check and to be an example to others; for the way he treats the natives is really insupportable; and I think that a severe lesson would do a great deal of good in the settlement generally."
