Private. New Plymouth

October 13/70.

Dear Sir

I am waiting for the ''Luna'' which was to have been here on the 5th. inst. according to Fairchilds own reckoning on leaving this with the Governor. The Wellington Natives are most of them at Opunake, as I instructed them to go there from Pariaka to avoid the expense of having to keep them in Town.

I have arranged to see the Natives of the district, at Opunake, where they will meet me on calling there in the ''Luna''. but for this arrangement, I should have left in the Taranaki today.

The ''Luna'' was at the Manukau lands yesterday, and I should suppose will be here in a day or so. There was no communication with her from Taranaki.

Yours obt. Servt.
R. Parris.
