My dear Carter,

As the nomination for our district takes place tomorrow and as I am requested by several of the electors to allow myself to be proposed as a candidate for the Superintendency, I feel that it would be ungracious on my part to decline to do so. It is better that there should be a clear understanding in the event of questions being asked by the electors, I would
